Goldfields School is welcomed

At Netherton School we celebrate cultural diversity.  This term we welcomed Goldfields School from Paeroa who spent their time with us teaching us how to sign the National Anthem.

Creating A Bird Haven At Netherton School

Mr John Gaukrodger from DOC suggested that if we were to encourage Native bird life back in to Netherton School we could plant a bird Island for them. We decided to make use of the tall trees that are already there and surround them in flax and edible trees, such as feijoa, guava, coprosma, persimmon. We took action and invited a group of parents to help us create such an island.

An Old Hen House Is Restored

Mr  Coldicut worked with Jacob, Zane, Dylan and Brooklyn every Wednesday to create this wonderful hen house. Mr Buchanan provided us with an old hen house from off his farm. Zane and Jacob made up a plan with the help of Jacob’s Grandfather.
We are now looking forward to hatching eggs and raising chickens.

The boys worked very hard with Mr Coldicutt to build a hen house. We all think it is amazing.
