Mr John Gaukrodger from DOC suggested that if we were to encourage Native bird life back in to Netherton School we could plant a bird Island for them. We decided to make use of the tall trees that are already there and surround them in flax and edible trees, such as feijoa, guava, coprosma, persimmon. We took action and invited a group of parents to help us create such an island.
What a fabulous action to take planting trees. I hope you have seen lots of birds come to your bird island.
